Energy Utilities - Analysis of Energy Efficiency through Smart Meter

Trilations is appointed to analyse Energy Effiency of the smart meters in Belgium

Eventually, all meters for electricity and gas evolve into smart energy meters. Smart meters and smart grids provide the distribution grid operator of the future many more possibilities, also in the benefit of customers, suppliers and other market actors.

The leading grid operators in Flanders have launched the placement of approximately 4 200 smart meters in a specified testbed (the two localities Mechelen Leest and Hombeek). The program Smart Metering is a collaboration between Eandis, Infrax and PBE in order to introduce throughout Flanders the concept of smart meters.

Eandis and Infrax and have decided to award the validation of energy efficiency gains for the pilot project to Trilations. Thanks to the smart meter, the consumer will have a better understanding of their daily energy consumption, which allows consumer awareness and behavior to adjust energy consumption.
